With the golf course fully open and conditions ever improving due to the hard work carried out by Dave Bell and his greens team, now is the time to really focus on playing better golf this season.
Now, no doubt you are hoping for lower/more consistent competition scores than last year, but ask yourself the question; "What have I done to improve my game?" by simply playing golf for one more year your short game feel and all round knowledge will naturally improve, but what about the really important parts, your swing and shot making? What are you doing to gain more consistency which inspires confidence? Well the really good players will practice hard and enjoy practicing the "right moves" through continued coaching, but that doesn't mean you have to behave like a Tour Pro to get better. If I could offer one piece of solid advice this season it would be for you to "practice what you are bad at!" So spend less time on the range hitting your trusty mid-irons and instead head for the practice bunker or improve those high shots over it to a small target. The more effort you put in early season, the better the results at the end.
Remember my favourite saying from the philosopher Einstein "the definition of insanity is to do the same thing week after week without improvement" so practice what you are bad at and you will improve.
Happy golfing this week and enjoy the warm sunny days.
