Hello golfers,
S1
Does it really make sense to join a golf club? At Dibden Golf Centre we definitely think so and here are 15 simple reasons why I think you should join our club if you're not already a member.

  1. If you play golf once every two weeks, you will almost certainly find that becoming a club member is cheaper. Think about it - if you play 26 rounds of golf each year and pay £29 per round at a weekend that equates to £754. We do not charge an entry fee like some clubs still do, so you will only have to fork out for an annual subscription, so on a seven day full membership that is already a saving of £50+ and that's before your FREE range use and discount in the clubhouse. If you play once a week on the other hand, the savings you will make will be enormous.
  2. We offer the opportunity to pay your annual subscription monthly.
  3. If you don't want to play golf at weekends, we can offer a five-day membership which will be much cheaper than the full seven-day rate.
  4. You will meet like-minded people.
  5. You will make new friends.
  6. There is a Club Professional who will happily give you golf coaching to help you progress and measure your improvement, allowing you to enjoy your game that much more.
  7. Food and drink will be 10% cheaper in the clubhouse and potentially less that your local pub.
  8. The girls behind the bar will quickly get to know you and will start pouring your drink when you walk into the clubhouse!
  9. The clubhouse has lockers in which you can leave your clubs so you don't have to lug them back and forth in the car.
  10. If you want to invite a friend to play at your course, he or she will get a preferential visitors' rate.
  11. If you join a course with lots of trees and rough lining the fairways, you will almost certainly learn to hit the ball straighter. You will also find lots of golf balls.
  12. If you join a difficult golf course you will have no trouble playing to your handicap when you play elsewhere.
  13. If you play regularly, you will get to know people and will always find somebody to play with if you turn up on your own.
  14. If you are a club member you will find that you are more likely to be welcomed with open arms at other clubs.
  15. If you are a parent, you will be able to arrange FREE, if not cheaper, junior membership for your children.

Modernising Golf's Rules

Last week the R&A proposed some key changes to the Rules of Golf from 2019. Their Rules Modernisation initiative has been underway for a few years now and this is the next stage in that process. The aim is to not only make the Rules easier to understand, but also to address some of the game's current problems, such as speed of play, and ensure they fit the needs of today's game.

Please spare a couple of minutes to complete our survey, which gives you the chance to have your say on the proposed changes.

We've picked out some of the most significant Rules changes for you to digest in this survey, before giving you the chance to say whether you agree or disagree with each of them. It'll be great to know your thoughts.
