The first hole at Dibden Golf Centre - Is it a par four or par six?
The theme of the last two weeks has been to make you analysis the strengths and weaknesses of your golf and to fully prepare for your game before you step onto the course. Hopefully standing on the first tee you should feel confident and prepared for what is about to come over the next few hours. So here's the next question. Are you going to play the course card or your own game? For example, we all know our first hole is a difficult challenge at the best of times but it's only a par four if you're a scratch golfer. More often than not I see golfers trying to hit the ball as far as they can in a quest to hit the green in two shots only to end up in a whole load of trouble down the sides of the hole.
Next time you play ask yourself what would be an acceptable score on this hole and focus not on length but on accuracy by using the short clubs in your bag. A couple of hybrids and a seven iron should do the trick, two putts later and a 5 on this hole is a solid start to your round.
Butch Harmon the famous golf coach to the world's elite once quoted "The biggest mistake amateur golfers make is to play a game they are not capable of". Let us know how you get on. We can help you improve your game! If you would like to book a lesson with one of the team please click here to get in touch.
For those who didn't get the chance to have a go to our last FREE fitting/trial evening, the next event is staged by Wilson Staff on Tuesday, 7 July from 4pm till 8pm.
Appointments can be made for a club fitting but otherwise simply turn up, use the driving range as normal but come and talk to us and demo their latest products! It's that easy!
