With the football season back underway last weekend, this week sees the last major of 2015 take place as the men battle it out over picturesque Whistling Straits for the US PGA Championship. Rory has confirmed that he is going to tee it up in a bid to regain the coveted title that he won so dramatically last year, but with so little competitive golf recently will he be in with a chance? One emerging talent from this side of the Atlantic who is in with a chance is Ireland's Shane Lowry who brilliantly won last week in the WGC Bridgestone Invitational. Shane's final round of four under par saw a flawless display of golf under the greatest of pressures and the delivery of a bogey free round to claim victory by two from Bubba Watson. With over 1000 bunkers across 18 holes this week's USPGA Championship should be very interesting.
Bramshott Hill Golf Club Captain Gary Hawker held his Captain's day last Saturday. The weather was fantastic and ideal conditions to play golf. 48 people entered and there were some exceptional scores. Congratulations to the overall winner Peter Rogers with a stableford score of 45. The Captain's charity this year is Adult Cystic Fibrosis and due the generosity of those attending he raised over £300 on the day. Thanks must also go to Dave King who slaved over a hot BBQ all afternoon to ensure everybody was well fed.
On Sun afternoon 10 more senior members of BHGC played Dorset Golf and Country Club in the quarter finals of the Carpet Barn. Home advantage paid off once more and they had another 5-0 victory. They are now in finals day at Canford Magna but the next match will decide if they are playing for first or seond place or third or fourth place. Another home draw will suit nicely. Anyone interested in being part of a very successful club or just want to get an official handicap call Gary Hawker on 07879673243 or pick up a membership application form from either the clubhouse or the pro shop.
